Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Life Plan Community/Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)?
A Life Plan Community or Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) offers a secure plan for your future. It’s a senior living community that provides a full continuum of care, from independent living to assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing, all on one campus. This ensures access to the support you may need later, without the stress of having to relocate. By choosing a Life Plan Community, you gain a maintenance-free, engaging lifestyle now, along with the peace of mind with a plan for the future.
How do CCRCs support senior wellness?
Living at a Life Plan Community offers significant health benefits, as supported by the findings of a 5-year study by the Mather Institute and Northwestern University. This study confirmed that older adults in Life Plan Communities experienced better overall wellness than their peers living elsewhere. Specifically, residents reported better physical health, held more positive views on aging, and experienced greater social wellness. They also reported less loneliness and had more frequent contact with others. Our trained senior wellness specialists provide a wide variety of opportunities, including lifelong learning, social events, fitness classes, and volunteer programs, all designed to help you live a healthier, more fulfilling life.
What is an Entrance Fee and how is it used?
An entrance fee is a one-time payment that gives you priority access to a full continuum of care, should you ever need it. It secures your future and can offer significant savings on the cost of long-term care. This fee also directly supports the community itself, funding capital improvements that keep our residences and common areas vibrant and well-maintained. Think of our monthly service fee as being much more than a mortgage. It covers a comprehensive range of services designed to enhance your lifestyle, including home and grounds maintenance, delicious dining, housekeeping, security, utilities, and engaging activities and events.
How does a not-for-profit differ?
As a not-for-profit organization, our main focus is on residents, not shareholders. This means that instead of distributing earnings to investors, we reinvest all financial gains directly back into our communities. This funding goes toward enhancing resident services, upgrading our facilities, and developing new well-being programs. A key benefit of our not-for-profit status is the Benevolent Assistance Program, which provides financial security to residents who may outlive their resources. We also offer special grants and awards for church and public service to assist new residents with their move.
Does a Westminster community make good financial sense?
Choosing a Westminster community can be a wise financial decision that helps you simplify your budget and make the most of your resources. The one-time entrance fee provides access to a full continuum of care, if ever needed, at a predictable, discounted cost. This offers valuable long-term financial security. Beyond future care, living here helps you simplify your expenses by eliminating costs like home maintenance, property taxes, and many utilities. The all-inclusive monthly fee covers these essentials, along with dining, housekeeping, security, and engaging activities and events, allowing you to enjoy a more predictable budget and a more worry-free lifestyle.
Is Westminster welcoming to all backgrounds and ethnicities?
Westminster is welcoming and inclusive for all people. Our mission is to provide an inspiring and supportive environment for everyone, celebrating the rich tapestry of backgrounds that make the world so vibrant. While we have a faith-based heritage, our communities are intentionally open and welcoming – all faiths, all ethnicities, all backgrounds, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
